Prediction Premiership Week 35: froggobbler Wins Prediction Premiership 20007/08
He left his run late, only hitting the front last week, but it was timed to perfection -
froggobbler has won the third Prediction Premiership title (and £100) after the most exciting run-in yet.
SUFFOLK 'N' GOOD............... stole second place (£50) with an outstanding final week involving goals from Downing and Lescott (improving on his 5th placing last year). All of which left
Juande they'll learn how to defend! trailing in third (£25), which must be a disappointment after leading the table pretty much every week between November and April.
It will be no great surprise to anyone that the most predictable team of the season (according to you, the loyal PTS members) was poor little Derby County, from whom most of us managed to pick up at least 3 points each week, simply by putting them down to lose. Close behind them on the predictability rankings - although for completely opposite reasons - were Manchester United and Chelsea. After being second-least predictable team in 05/06 and 06/07, Middlesbrough made it three years of confusing form, this time coming out overall as the team that members scored fewest points from. They were followed by Tottenham Hotspur, who had a surprisingly bad start to the season, then got their act together once people started to predict them to lose, only to hit a dodgy patch again once people woke up to the fact that Ramos was turning things around.
Our Golden Boot trophy this year goes to
Juande they'll learn how to defend! with 180 points, after a masterful display of how to play the game. Mind you, that didn't stop last year's winner,
SUFFOLK 'N' GOOD............... almost nicking that off him in the final week as well. The debate continues to rage over how best to pick your goalscorers... we're not going to tell you that, but we can tell you that if you'd picked five players and stuck with them all season then the five players to pick would have been Martin Laursen (48 points), Joleon Lescott (45 points), Stewart Downing (44 points), Sebastian Larsson (36 points) and James Harper (34 points). That's a total of 207 points - 13 points fewer than last season and 37 points fewer than 05/06, which either means the goals are getting spread around a bit more, or we're making the game harder...
A quick final mention for the winner of the last Manager of the Month -
CalConJor Golden Boys - a killer combination of Downing, Lescott and Alves delivering that title...
The FAntasy Cup final is next weekend, and then it's on to Euro 2008... England may not have made it, but we're going to be adding some PTS spice to the competition with the first ever EuroPredictTheScore... watch out for an announcement next week. Of course, Prediction Premiership will be back in August, along with The FAntasy Cup and, if all goes to plan, a Champions League game...
All that's left is to again thank all of our members, old and new - we've said it before so I'll copy and paste it in here - we'd look a bit pathetic without you coming back every week, making your predictions and winning our prizes. Tell your friends - and we'll see you soon. Every Game Counts!

McClaren for City?
So, Sven's off and Scolari has been approached to take over... hmmm. The situation at Man City sounds oddly familiar - what are the odds that Big Phil will ultimately Sinawatra down and he'll have no option but to turn to the Wally with the Brolly?
Just a thought...

Prediction Premiership Week 34: Down To The Wire
One point. That's ONE POINT. That's the extent of
froggobbler's lead over
Juande they'll learn how to defend! as we go into the final weekend of this season's Prediction Premiership. Has he timed his run to perfection, hitting the front at the last possible moment, or is it just going to spark a final push from his rivals that leave him trailing?
BOATROYALS remain in third, just 8 points off the pace with
Getho XI another point back in fourth. It looks like it's between the four of them...
If he holds onto fourth it looks like
Getho XI still won't finish empty handed - he retains his lead in Manager of the Month and is looking like a strong favourite for the final award.
There's only one day of action left, but it's going to be decisive. Join us on Sunday...

Prediction Premiership Week 33: Does Nobody Want To Win This Thing?
There are only two weeks left and it couldn't be tighter...
Juande they'll learn how to defend! still leads, but now by just 4 points from
froggobbler, and by 7 points from
BOATROYALS and
Getho XI... and a good week wouldn't rule out much of the rest of the Top 10 from contention either. I really have no idea what's going to happen...
Getho XI now lead Manager of the Month, aided by goals from Adebayor and van Persie in Monday night's thrashing of Derby. 12 points is a good lead. Is it good enough?
Saturday afternoon is when we get going again - don't miss out on being involved in the most exciting Prediction Premiership run-in... ever!

Prediction Premiership Week 32: Edging To Victory?
It's certainly tense... with three weeks to go, the gap at the top of the table has widened to 10 points as
Juande they'll learn how to defend! outscored second placed
froggobbler... but not by much.
Juande managed two points better in both Game 1 and Game 2, where his claim to be the best Predict The Scorer player ever was further enhanced by the selection of two-goal Ashley Young. 10 points, however, is not a big lead and the title is far from settled...
Normally we'd be awarding a Manager of the Month prize this week, but we only bought 8 trophies so there are still 3 weeks for this "month" to run - bad luck
Nihon Blues, you'll need to keep producing the goods for a while longer.
All eyes are now on next Saturday, when Chelsea play Man Utd which could decide who goes on to win the Premier League. Will it be as decisive in Prediction Premiership? There only one way to find out...
