Season 2 of Prediction Premiership has finally finished and, as expected, it is Ruchir who claims the title along with prize money of £100 and a shiny trophy. In the end, however, it couldn't have been a lot tighter with the gap to second a mere 4 points - all it would have taken to swing it was a late equaliser for Man Utd at home to West Ham. Coming in second (£50) after an astoundingly consistent season is Month 1 Manager of the Month - Women Belong On Top (Andria Christophi), whilst third place is taken for the second year in a row by Bambos. It is, of course, PredictTheScore.co.uk tradition that Bambos finishes in one of the prize positions and yet we don't let him win money and since he had more than a little to do with his wife's second place, we've decided to pay the third place prize (£25) to fourth placed Fenerbahce (Burcin) who ended up top dog in an incredibly competitive group (including JBagot, Will Pearl and norfolk and chance) each of whom occupied fourth spot at some point over the final afternoon.

It has oft been commented upon that Chelsea and Man Utd were, for most of the season, bankers and so it won't be any surprise that they were the two teams from whom the most points were scored this year. On the opposite end of the scale, Charlton and Watford were also pretty preditable, whilst unpredictability was the preserve of the North East with Newcastle confusing most of you, followed by Middlesbrough who were no more reliable than they were last season. Overall the most predicted results were early on and both involved Charlton, with a total of 172 people predicting that Manchester United would win away at The Valley and that Chelsea would have the better of them at Stamford Bridge. Suprisingly the most perfectly predited scoreline involved none of the teams mentioned so far, it was Tottenham Hotspur 2 Sheffield United 0 (81 perfect).

The Golden Boot trophy for most Game 2 points was a dead heat with both Ruchir and norfolk and chance (Dave Strevett) amassing 205 points. There's no monetary prize but there is a trophy which we're going to award to norfolk and chance in order to spread the love around a bit... This season we tweaked the Predict The Scorer points system a touch and as a result the scores were a little bit higher, and the top scorers were more likely to be midfielders rather than defenders. If you'd picked five players in Week 1 and stuck with them then the five you would have wanted were Carlos Bocanegra, Gary Speed (both 47 points), Gilbero Silva (46 points), Jermaine Jenas (42 points) and Bobby Zamora (38 points). Altogether that's 220 which is actually 20 points fewer than last season's list and not a million miles away from what Ruchir and Dave actually scored...
